While it may surprise you, considering the scope of this research, that I am not a proficient reader of Hebrew. My strengths involve an intense focus on reading comprehension, and the author’s contextual usage of his language. I am a retired teacher, and my primary mission, at my level of instruction, was related to reading comprehension. That skill is required in any language.

In my opinion, it is my shortcomings that reveal my strengths. The goal of language is understanding, and in Torah Hebrew every skilled learner must maintain a constant grasp of the context. Perhaps, that is why one is commanded to “listen.”
